About Hotel Meteor Plaza

The very first reference known to us of this charming hotel is from 1307. Unfortunately earlier information was lost in a fire. Originally the house was called "White Lion", and was known as a retreat for travellers just outside a city gate now known as The Powder Gate. When the gates were closed at dusk, "White Lion" was a popular place to stay. In the 17th century the son of the Empress Maria Teresa, who later became Emperor Josef II, spent a night at "White Lion" and in his honour this charming house’s name was changed to "City of Vienna".
